Lots Going On
The Greater Oconee Disc Golf club has been busy. With the Seneca Course adding multiple pin placements on 8 holes and the Walhalla Course coming online, there’s been a lot the club has been doing.
The new hole placements in Seneca took several days of work by the club clearing land and makning sure the placements worked. The club also cleared a lot of underbrush on holes 2, 3, 4, and 5. Each of those holes now has wider fairways than what was seen at the Steem Fling, The SC Doubles Championship or the Golden Corner Classic.
In Walhalla, the park department has done a lot of work. We had our first doubles type event and it went well. The course is similar to Timmons where you’ll need to be at least 8 down if not more to place. While the course is a short course compared to other ‘newer’ courses, I think the course will be better received outside of Oconee County than the Seneca Course is right now. Walhalla offers serveral wide open holes (1, 3, 4, 11, 14) than Seneca along with several holes that you either get the duece or a boggie. One bad throw can cause a great round to go to pot…it also has holes that if you don’t deuce, you feel as if you’ve lost a stroke to the entire round (1, 4, 8, 12, 13), not that you’ll duece each of these holes…you’ll just feel like if you don’t, you’ll pay in the end.
As GODG schedules doubles this off season and when we get the spring tournament and others on the schedule, we’ll post details here.

Are there any Walholla course pictures on the web?
