Becoming a Hot Spot?

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

Oconee County now has three 18-hole disc golf courses and one 9-hole course. While I can’t be certain, I think that Oconee County may have more courses or holes than any-other county in South Carolina.

Next week Luke Reiser and Adam Wright will be meeting with Park and Rec Director of Seneca to discuss a second course at Shaver Recreation. If we can get City Council approval, another course could be in the ground within another year in Oconee County.

My hopes are Westminster gets their course in the ground along with the one planned for a county park and the Keowee River development happens as planned. If all go according as planned, we could add four more courses to our county real soon. Amazing.

Golden Corner Classic coming in November…

Friday, August 21st, 2009

The GOLDEN CORNER CLASSIC will be held on November 21st this year (2009) a Saturday.  It will be “day of” registration only no pre-registrations. Player packs will be given to the first 40 amatuers.  Will be a 2-round stroke play event.

As usual there will be CTPs for all divisions (pro, adv, int, women) having a rec division is still up in the air, but I’m pushing towards NOT having it unless I get true rec players EXAMPLE: newbies and people that just aren’t that good.

NOTE: rec/novice division is not for old guys or baggers that “qualify” due to player rating. Try this you WILL be placed in appropriate division as determined by TD, me, or simply turned away.

Hope to see many of our locals from GREENVILLE, EASLEY, ANDERSON, WALHALLA, SENECA, WESTMINSTER and anybody else from the upstate.  GREER, BOILING SPRINGS, TOCCOA any other GEORGIANS COLUMBIANS GEECHIES(Charlston)
Last year I had 26 at this tournament, very very sad, I want to fill this one out with at least 50 .
THANK YOU NATHAN FLOUNDERS FOR THE MOTIVATION I wasn’t going to have GCC this year but I hate to dissapoint.

Another Course in Oconee County?

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

With the news of the course being installed this week in Clemson and the recent addition of the course in Walhalla, it’s been a great thing for the sport of disc golf…specially if you live in Seneca. We now have three courses within a 10 minute drive.

Then a client told me about another project with Disc Golf on the forefront.  There is a planned development on 700+ acres of land north of Seneca called Keowee River. According to the press release, the project includes plans for a Frisbee field and a Disc Golf Course.

I don’t have any other details yet.  I plan to talk with the developer soon.  When I know more, I’ll pass them on to you.

Seneca Disc Golf League

Clemson Course

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

A new course is going in the ground tomorrow in Clemson.  A team from Innova is coming to Clemson on Wednesday to install the course.  It will be at the Y Beach off of Highway 93…a short drive from Seneca.

With the planned course in Central, a second course in the works in Seneca, one planned for Westminster along with the current courses in Walhalla, Seneca, Easley and Greenville, the 123 Corridor from Greenville to Toccoa is loaded with possibilities.

More details to come.
