We Wait till November
The Seneca City Council met tonight but they didn’t vote on the funding for a new 18 hole Disc Golf course at Shaver Recreation Complex. A YES vote is expected next month to fund 18 baskets.
A proposal was made a month ago and club members met with several council members at the current Disc Golf course. We talked with council members about the economic impact that Disc Golf can have on a community and with Seneca becoming of only a handful of communities in the country with two courses in one location.
We had hoped for a vote tonight. It has been pushed till the November meeting. We are confident the council will fund the new course. Mayor Alexander has said there should be no problem with getting the funding.
A design will be done by the club. With 52+ acres to work with, plans are for a course with most holes having multiple pin placements and duel tee pads. Our goal is a championship caliber course with a length of at least seven-thousand feet up to a possible 10-thousand feet in length.
With the design we don’t want to just have a long course but have a course that is challenging to the arm, a vision to the eye and mentally simulating. Needless to say, the design won’t be done quickly but it will be done thoroughly.
Details on funding when the council votes next month.
